Epic Design and Print Social Enterprise
After six months hard and sometimes frustrating work today was the launch of Epic. Epic is a design and print workshop the first social enterprise scheme in Wexford. The concept of a social enterprise is relatively new to Ireland. I must confess myself I was not aware of the concept or the existence of such a beneficial enterprise to society. The Cornmarket project based in Wexford is quietly going about its business to aid people who have simply fallen off the beaten path. The Cornmarket Project work in conjunction with clients that are coming from a background of substance misuse, criminality and social exclusion.
Epic Social Enterprise will give clients opportunities to gain valuable work experience in design and print. The workshop of Epic is based in the Cornmarket project, Spawell Road, Wexford. Epic offers design and print solutions for both the web and pretty much any product which has a flat surface. The Epic Social Enterprise offers all the usual design solutions with the added ability to also print designs and logos on many surfaces. Epic prints using sublimation, transfer and plotting. Epic will have a creative studio where design and print solutions will be available for all members of the community. Epic will cater for a one-off personalised message, small to medium businesses, start-ups or a charity or organizations. Epics promotional products include apparel, drinkware, bags, trade show and signage, stationery and technology.
Special mention for The Cornmarket Project Choir
The clients and wonderful staff of the cornmarket as part of the 20-year celebration have formed a choir. Today they were the headline act in the launch of EPIC. They where brilliant and even an old cynic like me was moved by the event and seeing all their hard work come to fruition in such a powerful way. I was going to blog more about the launch, but the choir stole the show and they represent the great value that The Cornmarket Project has to Wexford and society in general. That value is going to increase further with The New Epic Social Enterprise offering further opportunities for clients who are trying to get their life on track.
